FocusWrite is a free, local-first writing app for modern desktop browsers. It combines a quiet editor with practical tools for sustaining attention, organizing drafts, and exporting finished work.
What FocusWrite does
Keeps drafts organized
Create, rename, search, sort, switch between, and delete multiple documents. Find and replace works inside the active document.
Supports a writing rhythm
Optional synthesized typewriter sounds and five independently adjustable ambient tracks can play without requiring downloaded sound packs.
Works locally first
Documents and settings are saved immediately in browser storage, so an account is not required for the core writing experience.
Syncs when requested
If Firebase is available, signed-in users can synchronize documents through the cloud while local storage remains the immediate source of truth.
Exports cleanly
The Export control opens the browser print workflow with an A4-formatted copy that can be printed or saved as a PDF.

Local-first by design
FocusWrite stores documents and preferences on the device first. Cloud synchronization is optional and tied to sign-in. If a document exists only locally, clearing browser storage can remove it, so important work should also be exported or synchronized.

Where does FocusWrite store documents?
Documents and settings are stored in your browser's local storage. Signed-in users can also synchronize documents through Firebase.
Can I use FocusWrite without an account?
Yes. The editor and local document storage work without signing in. An account is only needed for optional cloud synchronization.
Does FocusWrite work offline?
Previously loaded app resources may remain available through normal browser caching, but FocusWrite does not currently promise full offline installation. Local documents remain stored in the browser.
Can I export a document to PDF?
Yes. Choose Export, then use your browser's print dialog to save the A4-formatted document as a PDF.
Which devices are supported?
The full writing workspace is designed for modern desktop browsers and requires JavaScript and local storage.
